Oxford Innovation Supports Motocross Star

March 9th 2018

An 11 year-old boy from Botley who is rapidly rising up the Motocross ranks and regularly competes in front of thousands of people, has caught the attention of Oxford Innovation following his entrepreneurial plea for sponsorship.

Kyron Carron has personally written to over 40 businesses in Oxfordshire to highlight opportunities that exist for potential sponsors from having their logos emblazoned across his kit and bike through to mentions on social media channels, but only Oxford Innovation has stepped forward to support Kyron and his family with the challenge of keeping his talent and racing dreams alive.

The company is donating £500 to help pay towards Kyron’s training, race fees and travel expenses and is known for supporting entrepreneurs and growing businesses realise their true potential throughout a UK network of innovation centres and business support services.

Kyron Carron said: “It means the world to me that Oxford Innovation took their time to read and answer my email, which is very nice as no other company has. I am very thankful for their donation, which is going to help me towards my career.”

Motocross is an expensive hobby and although Kyron has the full support of his family who dedicate their time and resources to bike maintenance, race fees and travel expenses, further financial assistance is needed to enable Kyron to continue competing at a high level.

Jo Willett (pictured), Managing Director, Oxford Innovation said: “Kyron wrote to us a while ago asking for support, and we were all moved by his passion, dedication and politeness – all qualities we hope to see in the entrepreneurs we support. There are a lot of parallels between top sports people and top business people, so it seemed appropriate to try and do what we could to help and encourage Kyron to carry on. I hope other companies can dig deep to allow this dedicated young man to fulfil his potential”

Kyron attends Botley School and is currently in the middle of the nationwide Arenacross competition held at arenas across the UK and watched by thousands more online.
